We have a beautiful pair of shoes in Judy Garland's size 5B, ready to be sequined into a pair of ruby slippers. The size 5B is the best pair she wore in her performance as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz because the toes are more pointy than other screen-used pairs.

Our shoes is created with wooden heels, it takes a lot of skill to make wooden shoe heels to match the exact shape and size of the heels on the original ruby slippers.

Inside the right shoe is a golden emboss label that reads "Innes Shoe Co., Los Angeles, Pasadena, Hollywood". This was used on the best pair of ruby slippers in the movie while others contained a woven label. MGM made something like 7-10 pairs of ruby slippers.

Written inside both shoe with a black fountain pen reads "#7 Judy Garland". The number 7 does not represent the shoe size, but as a reference used by MGM so that the 16-year-old actress is given the correct pair for a particular scene.

For example, pair of shoes "#1 Judy Garland" might be worn in the Emerald City scene, pair of shoes "#2 Judy Garland" might be worn in meeting the Scarecrow scene, etc.

Why does Judy Garland need to wear different pairs of ruby slippers? Well, to prevent wear and tear, and to keep certain pairs in more pristine condition than others so they will sparkle during close up shots. This pair is known as the "Witch's Shoes" which is the "#7 Judy Garland" pair of ruby slippers, and that's why when we craft our ruby slippers, we like to use an identical pair of this shoes to the "Witch's Shoes".

Sequining is in progress on the right shoe. Every sequin is hand-sewn directly onto the shoe with needle and thread so you can imagine how time-consuming and tedious the work is.

This is like art in a way, you definitely can't make ruby slippers of this caliber if you don't have natural talent and commitment. Our primary focus when sewing is to make sure the sequins are neat and firm all the way through the shoe.

This pair of ruby slippers will be made to look brand new, the same condition as the original ruby slippers in the movie.

Sometimes when we stop to take a deep breath and look at what we've done, we are amazed by our own work. This pair of ruby slippers, ladies and gentlemen, is shaping up to be a real beauty.

You're looking at a beautiful pair of ruby slippers, but what you couldn't see was the hard work behind the scenes.

Re-creating high quality ruby slippers takes a lot out of you when your primary goal is to make them look beautiful and accurate.

MGM didn't like the idea of using schoolgirl type shoes with thick low heels, and they wanted to use ladylike shoes for their ruby slippers, and in particular the size 5B pair to be a bit more sexy for Judy Garland as Dorothy by having pointy toes and using higher slim heels. Other known pairs of ruby slippers had slightly thicker and shorter heels.
