The beauty who made the ruby slippers famous

Details: We are giving one lucky person the chance to purchase and own a beautiful pair of ruby slippers during this 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz. They are iconic, they are magical, they are highly sought-after, and they are connected to the most beautiful and gifted actress in movie history, who else but our beloved Judy Garland.


Base shoes: You won't find these base shoes in Judy Garland's size anywhere in the world. The toes and heels are as perfect as you can get to those worn by Miss Garland as Dorothy in Munchkinland. The shoes were custom-made exclusively for us in size 5B on Judy Garland's shoe last surrounded by a beautiful red silk fabric overlay.


The ruby slippers: Thousands of solid red sequins are individually hand-sewn onto the base shoes to transform them into the ruby slippers and give the shine and sparkle effect. They are made to look like brand new, in the same pristine condition that Miss Garland wore while filming The Wizard of Oz.


Bows: The bows are made from leather, silk fabric, rhinestones, bugle beads and rectangular stones. We are giving the buyer the option of selecting their bows in our stock, or we can use the pair of bows that we think looks nice. This is the only area of the ruby slippers the buyer will have control over but whichever way the buyer decides, all of our bows are high quality and hand-sewn.


How to order: The ruby slippers are still being built and should be finished sometime in April, barring any unforeseen circumstances. If you would like to pre-order and reserve them, a deposit of $1,000 US is required and the remaining balance is due when they are completed. If there is no reserve, the ruby slippers remain available and will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis by making an arrangement with us.

The ruby slippers are made from wearable custom-made base shoes but I don't recommend that anyone wear them because the last thing you want is to get them dirty. They are not washable.

What makes us unique is that the buyer can choose their bows in our stock, you won't find any ruby slipper makers who give buyers this option because bow making using the stitching method is a time-consuming job. They just make one pair of bows and that's all they have to use.

The shipping cost is free worldwide. I probably should have written that down in my first post. The ruby slippers will be shipped with added security to their final destination, similar to the way jewelry is sent by mail and we've never had any issues in the past. It is more expensive than sending regular mail, but yep we cover the cost of shipping so that's only for us to worry about. The final cost will be $5,000 US with no additional charges for the buyer.

Repair service? The ruby slippers will be made in pristine condition, and the materials are sewn on tightly that nothing will fall apart. They should last a lifetime if they are not worn or given to pets to chew on. The ruby slippers will be sold on a no return basis, and we don't offer any repairs. Any damage to the ruby slippers will be the responsibility of the owner. 

For those who think that $5,000 is an insane amount, Western Costume Company sold a pair of replica ruby slippers for $35,000 US, which cost 7 times more than the price of our ruby slippers. To me, they are poorly made because they are not the shape of shoes that Judy Garland wore on screen.

We have begun the process of adding the sequins to the shoes. The right shoe is coming along nicely as you can see, but there's still lots of work to do. Sewing thousands of tiny sequins is not an easy job and can take a toll on your fingers and eyes so regular breaks is necessary.

Please note that our base shoes was custom-made from Judy Garland's size 5B shoe last so our ruby slippers will have a connection to the great actress. Judy Garland as a sixteen year old turning seventeen would fit nicely in our ruby slippers.
