Judy Garland was a much loved and respected entertainer for 45 of her 47 years, first as one of the singing Gumm sisters at her parents' vaudeville theater. But it was at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios in 1935 that she found her home.
Nicknamed "Baby" as a young girl, Judy Garland was only 13 years old when she signed a contract with MGM and she quickly became a big chunk of the DNA at the studio. A few years later at age 16 she was selected to play the world famous character Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and came home with a
special Oscar for her role at a packed Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
She had other commitments besides her acting duties: Radio appearances, making records for Decca Records, attending school and she even operated her own flower shop business named
"Judy Garland Flowers Inc", so as you can imagine she had a very busy teenage life. Judy Garland was one hell of an entertainer and they don't come any better.
