Attending the ceremony were the Governor and Provincial Party Secretary for Bolikhamxay Province, Pannoi Mani and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau, along with several other officials from both countries.
When giving his opening address, Governor Mani thanked Vietnam for the support it has given to Bolikhamxay province over the years and for setting up the factory, which he described as an excellent example of the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
Ambassador Chau said that this essential project by Thanh Hoa General Materials Company will add to the celebrations for Vietnam-Laos Solidarity Year in 2012, and will be a great help to the province's economy, while enabling the local community to improve their standard of living.
Built on a 26.78 ha site, the factory has a capacity of producing 100 tonnes of starch per day. Once completed and in operation, in 18 months, the plant will employ over 100 local people and benefit the area immensely.
