Toun Diva is her name, she's new to the Lao entertainment scene.

The song is about a love story, the acting in the video speaks for itself. It's not my kind of music.

Nearly all Lao music videos features actors talking or playing with their stupid mobile phones, and it reflects the way Lao society has become.

I don't mind people using their mobile/cell phone to talk, text or use the internet if it is important, but they should excuse themselves when they need to answer their phone.

It's really annoying when you're talking to someone and they ignore you completely everytime their phone rings, as though talking to someone over the phone is more important than physically talking to the person who is with them.

It's just as bad talking to someone, while at the same time they are fiddling with their phones to check text messages or social media activities. It's rude.



Gadget that people in Laos are obsessed with

Sometimes Lao singers make it big for a short period of time, then they become a has been.

Well, like Ting Phailavanh for example. She's a nothing these days.

Obviously she was never world renowned, but she used to be very big in Laos. She has "been there" for Lao standards.

I don't really follow her, but she resurrected her singing career in Japan at one stage.

It was a success, but she is not that popular these days.

I've never been a fan of Ting Phailavanh. She doesn't have an appearance of an innocent likeable girl, and she is a bit of a try hard when she sings, but I admire her commitment and determination.

It means she looks stuck up, she reminds me of Victoria Beckham. She will probably hate me for saying that to her, but I like to speak my mind. Look at singers like Kai Souvanuan from Overdance, Alexandra Bounxouei and even Judy Garland, they have a sweet and innocent look.

Ting Phailavanh sings in Lao. She was one of the biggest stars in Laos who has been around for years, many Laotians overseas also know her so I'm surprised you needed to google her.
