Their beauties aside, they had a love-hate relationship. Judy Garland in particular had bitter feelings towards her mother, accusing her of taking all the money that she made on stage and screen, and for her lost childhood.

Her older sisters disagree, and Virginia Gumm publicly stating "Mama never took a dime from Judy."

She probably didn't take all the money, but certainly a large chunk of it during Judy's early years at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
