(KPL) A groundbreaking ceremony for a new school project in Attapeu Province was held on May 17 in Sanxay District. This humanitarian project is being funded by the United States Government and the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), as part of the continuing USPACOM Humanitarian Assistance Program in Laos.
The project is the construction of a new primary school for Sanxay District, Attapeu Province. This new school is to accommodate additional student capacity. The expected completion date of these construction projects is May, 2012.

The new primary school classroom building is being provided on behalf of the American people, to express their deep gratitude to the government and people of Attapeu Province for their support and cooperation in the search for remains of Americans missing from the Indochina War.
Representatives from Sanxai District, Attapeu attending the ceremony included Mr. Bounsay Saymanee, Vice District Governor of Sanxay District; Mr. Somphone Nyebnyahan, Assistant Head of the District Education Office, Sanxai District; and other Provincial and District Government Officials. Mr. Khemphet Sinounenoy represented the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Dustin Roses, POW/MIA Affairs Specialist, represented the U.S. Embassy and Mr. Mike Macmillan, Project Engineer from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer, Alaska joined the ceremony.
The U.S. Embassy, in coordination with U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), has provided humanitarian assistance projects in rural areas of Laos for more than fifteen years, including schools, medical clinics, irrigation systems and clean water supply systems.
This construction projects are part of six expected USPACOM Humanitarian Assistance Projects to be provided to the Lao PDR in 2010-11, for a total assistance package of more than $2.1 million USD.

That would be good if Laos, US have closer relation, friendship and cooperation. U.S already has good ties with Vietnam. Laos has a policy of being friend with everybody.

They need to do more with the UXO cleanup.  Who'd allowed the US to come in and littered all over Laos?  Was it the King at that time Angry?

With permission or not from any king or government. U.S government will do whatever to win Vietnam war. War in Laos was called secret war because they try to hide it from the world. If Laos have closer ties with the U.S, maybe US will increase aid to clear UXO in the future.
