So Japan, South Korea and Germany giving grants for development.  Maybe it's their plan to have a automobile manufacturing location in Laos because Laos is in the center of ASEAN nations? These countries would not give money away if there are no strings attached to Laos.  This is all good for Laos still if the locals can get high quality job opportunities in the automobile industry.

Laos is not an idea to set-up an automotive manufacturing or any large scale Manufacture.  Demographic and logistics are not suitable. Laos is Land lock country and the people is lack of skill and metal to work hard! I am not try to put down my country men...but that is the truth and We can't denial that!

I'm happy to hear that other country is helping Laos. The more Laos become developed and our people become more educated the harder it's for our powerful neighbor to control and exploit us. I'm looking at the big picture.

Laos will be a landlink and the new silk road of Southeast Asia. They're working on super highway, subway and railway connecting to all the neigboring country. Laos is short on skilled labors right now, but you train people to do anything. Education is the way.

You have to look at the whole picture here what is surrounding Laos.  We have China to the north, Burma to the west, Thailand and Cambodia to the south and Vietnam to the east.  If Japan, Germany or South Korea can bring in their major car brand and build a manufacturing center in Vientiane, assemble the automobiles and distribute them mulitilaterally to the surrounding countries at low distribution cost.  This is again to have these autos to be  sold only in ASEAN countries.

I think the initiative has already started. They already ship students to study abroad. Maybe they are Laos' future leaders. There are a few in  NZ too.

This rail link is only go through north part of Laos and go directly into North of Thailand and all the way down to Singapore port! Who do you think will benefit the most? Laos only being used for this deal,The benefit of this deal would be the cheap labour force and judged by the past..China will used their own labour force anyway.....
Laos do not just lack of the skill of workforce,we also lack of skill to lead and negotiant for a better deal or maybe the leader in Laos just too dump to see it.....

Lao leaders should stand up for khonLao and do what whatever is  necessary for the benefits of khonLao in Laos, if there are still any pride in Laos.  The majority of the Lao population is between ages 14-30 which are extremely young and they are hungry to learn new skills.  Blue collar jobs are still perfectly fine for our Lao people.  Blue collar jobs build the country to better standard of living conditions for all in Laos.

Lao university student is the future of Lao leader. Lao student don't just study in Vietnam, China and Russia anymore. They also study in Australia, Thailand, India, Japan.

That's why Thailand is ahead their leader, government officials been studying in Europe, America for the past 200 year. They bring that knowledge back to developed their country.

Agreed 100%. About half of Laos population is under the age of 16. Pretty much they don't care about communism or Vietnam war. What they want is jobs and opportunity. They're influences by Thailand, western culture.
Cool
