She sings with a fluent American English voice. I wouldn't have guessed that she is a Lao person if I heard it on radio or something.

We have singing contests in Laos every now and then, but the singers are Lao citizens and they sing Lao music, so she probably wouldn't make the cut.

If a business makes $1,000 profit a month, and they paid their worker $2,500 a month, they will go bankrupt.

Employing a person for $100 month will still get the job done, and employers know that. The person can do just as well as someone who demands a higher wage.

In the US even $2,500-$3,000 a month, still might not be enough for some people. You got house payment, car payment, buy new TV, shopping and so on. When it come to money it's never enough.

But if company don't have to pay you more they won't. It only mean more profits in their pocket. In the old day people in America were working 12 hrs day with little pay, and no benefits. Until worker organized union and demand better pay, benefits and better working condition. I think it's somewhere in 1920. If company has their way they'll not pay us at all, and work us to death like the old day slavery.

Inflation. No problem here government policy, education, big business, customer buying power keep the economies going. That's why China, Vietnam become sucessful they are capitalist socialist. 

Supply and demand. If people has more buying power they'll spend more. Company then need to hire more worker making those good. It keep the economies rolling. Good and service might be expansive in America, but people also has many choice if they want to buy $50,000 house or $500,000. A $15,000 car or $100,000 car. People get in finacial problem here because spend more then they make, and buy something they can't afford.

People go where there is jobs and opportunity. Nobody want to be poor. That's why many young Lao go work in Thailand cause the pay more. That's why million and million around the world want to come live in US, Japan or Singapore. If Japan, Singapore, US, EU give Lao poeple visa and tell them you can get good health care, education and make $50,000 a year working here. I bet you 6 million out of 6.8 million people in Laos will take the offer. Will you take the offer?

If government created opportunity for the people. Then Lao people don't have to go oversea or Thailand to look for better paying jobs. Many young people end up becoming a victim of human traffic, and force to work as prostitution. Foreign company bring their own worker instead of hiring Lao worker, there is also around hundred thousand illegal worker in Laos steal jobs from Lao people. Government should do something about that.

How much does good paying jobs pay in Laos? Unskill worker make about $100, that's  not even enough to buy gas to go work.

Thailand, Cambodia crack down on illegal worker. Laos with only 6.8 million poeople. If hundred of thousand jobs go to illegal immigrant that's mean there is not much jobs available left for Lao people. 

I see many vehicles on the road, so obviously people have enough money to buy gas/petrol.

Some people who work in marketing, IT, and banks earn about $400 US a month.

There are jobs for Lao people, but whether they are willing to do it is another matter.
