If you're a Lao foreigner, the foreign company will be paying you so you will be earning a high wage, and possibly with other benefits.
If you change your citizenship to Lao, then understandly you will be earning the same as a local engineer. But the Lao government doesn't expect you to change your citizenship, they just require some educated people to work at some Embassy, Red Cross or similar.
well of course my foreign company better be paying me the same high salary i would be getting if i lived in usa. in fact, they will have to pay my visa renewal fees and health insurance in thailand because no way would i rely on hospital in lao.
but BorLeumBanGerd was making the point that the lao government will never match salary for a lao professional job as compare to in foreign land. i am agreeing even if the lao government could afford to pay as much, they won't. why bother when the need isn't there yet.. when low pay will still get the job done, just slower and not as good quality, but still there.
