Eating out is a great way for people to socialise and unwind in Laos. There are many restaurants with outdoor seatings, and you can even sit on the floor to eat at some places.

The foods in Laos are quite little bit expensive than in the US. Just as the drinking water [ one liter of bottle cost around 4,000-6,000 kip = 50 cent- 75 cent ] and Pher or Pho [ One bowl of noodle cost 20,000kip and Phonkeng] this all most $3. IF you earned $5 per day in Laos I don't know how to afford for foods. Its seem to  expensive than in Thailand.

14 days in Laos had cost me $ 3,000. I spent 2 months in Thailand didn't cost me that much. I don't think I can afford to stay in Laos. Every things seem to be very expensive.

Foreign visitors lack knowledge in Laos, that's why they tend to pay more than the locals.

If you purchase drinking water at the shops, it's expensive (but still cheaper than in your country). The locals purchase the big 10 litre water containers for only 4,000 kips, trucks drop them straight to their homes. I don't often buy drinking water at the local shop.

The average price of fur (rice noodle) in Vientiane cost 10,000 - 12,000 kips, and much cheaper in the countryside. In my life, I have never ordered a bowl of fur that costs 20,000 kips. Maybe you ordered a jumbo size or extra ingredients.

Same in Thailand if they know you're tourist sometime they'll charge you more. I think it all depend on where you go. Some restuarent is more expensive then other.

Visits Laos if you can and spend your money there. The more the better to help Laos economy. I don't care about spending $2-$3 on food. It's still a good deal in Laos. Seafood buffet at casino in the US cost about $25 a person.

Lan Xang, Food and drinks generally have a fixed price in Laos so it would be immoral to charge a higher price regardless if you're a tourist or local. He probably went to an expensive restaurant at tourist spots. Buffet in Laos cost around $5 per person. All-you-can-eat seafood for $25 US doesn't seem too expensive in America.

USA Joe, I don't remember the name of it sorry, but there's no flies. If anything, mosquitoes can be a problem because they live in water environments.

It depends on the type of restaurant.

Restaurants with a casual feel, such as a simple noodle restaurant on the streets wouldn't be a problem at all if tables were full.

But sharing tables with strangers in stylish restaurants is rude. It's probably the same in your country.

There's a nice seafood restaurant out on rue asean?? near the airport. It's built out over water a bit.

I have been there a few times now and it's a good local place to eat. There are heaps of tables, well over 50, and it's reasonably priced. Unless a Falung is paying and the local dinner guests are ordering 'koung'?? prawns by the kilo.

Definately worth a visit with Lao locals, start early and leave late.
