I was wondering how successful an english school is in Laos. Like how much money people are willing to spend per month to go to a school that would teach them english from a teacher who speaks both languages. I know there are native english teachers there but they are not native laos people and so they can't translate to laos. Are there currently schools like this now? I know a friend of mine said there was but I wanted to know how many students attend and if there is enough interest in it that I could go open up a school there. I could also teach math, computers, engineering, business, anything they want to know. Don't steal my business idea okay, haha.

I was already thinking of quitting my job as an engineer next year to go teach english overseas in japan. I want a career change and to do something more fun and fullfilling such as teaching or becoming an international translator and that way I can travel to my hearts content. I think a successful school needs good teachers and a well planned curriculum geared towards the intended age group or audience. First need to get text books and learning material, then find a large enough place to rent/lease and renovate into classrooms with air conditioning. Then you advertise by distributing flyers near the local schools and university. You break it down into 4 month courses, from beginner level to higher levels, depending on where the student is at. From witnessing how well their level of english is in Laos, I would say that they read and write better than they can speak or comprehend from listening. But it is still broken english and at best, an elementary level compared to north america. I think they have a long way to go still but at least they are starting.

Hey admin, how did you learn english? Did you finish university in laos or went to an english school somewhere? I'm not familiar with how the school system in Laos works, how many grades are there and what do they learn before they graduate high school. I know a lot of kids don't go to school at all, perhaps cause they don't have any money, do you have to pay to go to regular schools in Laos?

What are all the grade levels in Laos? And up to what age?

School in Laos should be free. Socialist suppose to take good care of their people.

Your comment is different from what we've been discussing before, because we didn't discuss anything of an explicit nature. News websites publish articles about prostitutes and sex issues, and it's fine because they always make sure that it's suitable for the general audience.

Sex references is fine here too, but there's a line in the sand that we shouldn't cross, and it should be discussed in the appropriate section of the forum.
 
Many people come here to look for information about schools in Laos, and you're discussing sexual activities. Don't you think that would put them off?
