We have hard work ahead of us to craft a beautiful pair of hand-sewn ruby slippers in Judy Garland's size 5B for a flight attendant.

Did you know that Judy Garland was terrified of flying? It's true. She's a very strong girl mentally as a singer-actress but she wasn't confident every time she sat inside an airplane with two people she doesn't know personally at the front controlling her destiny.

When she was a young teen superstar at MGM Studios, she didn't leave her country America and always caught trains and ships to visit different cities. She owned a car too which was given to her by the studio.

During her later years on the concert stage, she traveled to work in other countries and sometimes needed to reach her destination quickly so she boarded a flight.

This is a pair of silk fabric and thin leather hand-sewn bows we will be using for this pair of ruby slippers. The art of making high quality bows like these comes from experience.

The stones and beads are custom-made materials to match those on the original bows. They all have tiny holes for sewing. One of the key components of these authentic bows is the high quality glass rectangular stones with the exact size face cuts and "V" cuts on the sides of the stones which is identical to the 1930's rectangular stones on the original ruby slippers.

This pair of bows took 4 days (working 8 gruelling hours per day) to craft, so a lot of time and attention was spent to make them look beautiful and perfect.

The bows were not originally planned for the sequined shoes, MGM costume designer in Gilbert Adrian came up with the idea after some tests in 1938.

Judy Garland as Dorothy's size 5B shoes for this project.

This high quality pair of shoes is handmade from scratch to fit a young Judy Garland as Dorothy. Our genuine shoes can be worn since we craft our wooden heels and shoes the same way as the shoes used to make the original ruby slippers.

A clear golden embossed label is stamped inside the right shoe that reads "Innes Shoe Co., Los Angeles, Pasadena, Hollywood."

On the top lining of both shoe has the writing "#7 Judy Garland."

These shoes will turn into a wearable hand-sewn sequined ruby slippers as worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy in the 1939 production of "The Wizard of Oz."

Sequining is underway on Judy Garland's size 5B right shoe

Sequining is complete on the right shoe, and the beautiful bow is sewn on the throat part of the shoe.

Every sequin (estimated about 2,500 per shoe) is sewn one by one on a curve surface of the right shoe with attention to detail.
