We are about to begin our first hand-sewn ruby slipper project in 2019.

We will be working hard to clear a backlog of orders and we're ready to dive right in to what's ahead of us in 2019.

Below is a picture of a beautiful pair of hand-sewn bows with leather and silk overlay for this project. Everything is sewn by hand with needle and thread.

The high quality glass rectangular stones, bugle beads and rhinestones are all custom made to match the exact stones on the original bows worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy. These are not any materials where you could just walk into a shop and find because they are not available. These are the real deal to make our bows look authentic and high quality.

Our wearable size 5B shoes with wooden heels handmade from scratch to match the shape and size of the original shoes worn by Judy Garland as Dorothy.

Innes Shoe Company in Hollywood golden embossed label is stamped inside the right shoe, and along the top left side of both shoe contains the writing "#7 Judy Garland."

We will be crafting a pair of hand-sewn ruby slippers to look brand new in Garland's size. They can be worn just like in the movie because everything is crafted the same way.




In The Wizard of Oz classic movie, MGM Studios wanted Judy Garland as Dorothy to wear the ruby slippers to take advantage of their Technicolor.

They also had to decide whether the ruby slippers be made from flats or mid-heeled shoes. High-heeled shoes was not an option since this would make a young Judy Garland as Dorothy look too sexy.

Flat ruby slippers would be ideal in order to make her appear short and childlike in the movie, however flat ruby slippers wouldn't shine and sparkle too well against the ground, particularly against the yellow color of the brick road. Also standing on grass wearing flats would hide most of the red shine and sparkle.

For these reasons MGM Studios decided to raise the shoes up a bit, and this is why we see Judy Garland as Dorothy wear the iconic ruby slippers in mid-heeled pumps. The secret for keeping her short was to take the ruby slippers off her feet when they weren't in view in the movie.

It's business as usual with sewing. The perfection in the way the sequins overlap each other is a sign of steady hand and strong attention to detail.

The ruby slippers are the most well known costume Judy Garland wore in all of her movies.

Judy Garland as Dorothy was a real babe, a very beautiful American girl. Her innocent, friendly and down to earth nature on screen epitomizes the way she treated her fans in the real world.

We are working long hours on this high quality pair of ruby slippers in Judy Garland's size 5B. The right shoe is done and she is perfect. It's now time to sew on the left shoe.

The years fly by so fast doesn't it? It's already 2019, and incidentally this year marks the 80th anniversary of MGM's The Wizard of Oz movie release in 1939.

Yep, 80 years ago when most of us weren't even born yet, a gorgeous and talented young girl by the name of Judy Garland strutted her stuff as Dorothy on the hot studio set of The Wizard of Oz in Culver City, Los Angeles.
