I came across my favorite drink, coconut juice, on the streets so I had to get one.

The average price of a coconut costs 10,000 kip ($1.25 USD) on the streets of Vientiane. Smaller size coconuts costs a bit less, and they lift the price for a coconut in restaurants and bars at 15,000 or 20,000 kip.

Apart from selling coconut juice, this young man also sells coconut-flavored iCream.

In America, the Ice Cream Trucks have speakers and play distinctive music; so the kids can hear the music, get excited,  go get money from parent and eat delicious ice cream.

Does the Coconut Man play music to attract customers?

While it's true that you're a millionaire in Laos, goods and services are charged in large figures in tens of thousands so your money will go pretty quickly.

Laotian men can wear in public the same things that men wear in western countries.

Unless you're swimming in Vang Vieng, you'll probably be charged, arrested, or be told to put on a shirt if you were seen shirtless in Vientiane.

Would you walk on the streets of New York with no shirt? Of course you wouldn't, so why do it in Vientiane?

It's a common sense thing. I wouldn't want to be jail for some stupid stuff that I can control myself. Especially in a foreign country. Look at what happen to that kid in North Korea. If you want to get drunk and run around naked due it in the country side with the water buffalo.

Yeah you don't want to do anything that others are not doing, especially in a communist country like North Korea and Laos.

You should always follow what you see the locals wear, and what you see them do.

Just don't try to act cool or different because tourists need to remember that Laos is still a communist country.

  I have often noticed Western men in public, in Asia, not wearing a shirt. I would not do this, as it seems out of place and makes the native people think you are idiot.

Not many Laotian women have tattoos, maybe less than 5% in the country.

Yup, most women in the US are pretty bad.  As for tattoos, I prefer women that don't have them but as long as they are not visible I don't care too much.
