Talking to different Lao girls, I noticed one similar pattern between them, they all say they have dark skin, even the very pale white ones. Is this their way of being modest and not bragging about how white they are, or do they really think they're dark? None of them will admit how white their skin is. Can someone explain this to me?

Please let me analyze this complex social issue for you using analytical methodology and available data to be used as input in this analytical methodology.

So what data can you provide from these ladies? Region of Laos? Level of Westernization? Economic background? Religion? And so on.... The more data the better the solution to this questioned and complexed problem.

Dark skin is Ok if healthy.

Gothic white skin is most erotic in my humble opinion. If the girl is supposed to be white and she is too dark then she has been exposing too much ;D ;D ;D

the thing is, girls in this area use skin whitening creams and stay out of the sun to avoid getting a tan if they can. I also prefer lighter skinned women, but in the west being tan is "in."

Personally I dont like the bleached, ultrawhite girls who try to look Korean, but I also don't like the ones that are so dark they look like theyre Africans, Slightly tan is OK for me.

Anyway, that attitude exists in all of East Asia, so its not just third world countries..But I mean, being too dark does look a bit dirty in my opinion. I'm slightly tan but when I spend too much time in sunny areas I can get a bit dark.

They say it's mostly white men in Southeast Asia who like the darkies, because they dont see whats wrong with it, unlike the asian men.

Im just wondering why the girls who are already white deny it.

Well I mean I prefer girls on the lighter side of the spectrum, but I don't like bleached white girls either. Some girls are just naturally lighter like East Asians and a lot of Lao girls, especially in the North near China where temperatures can get real cold. I guess the dark skin looks exotic to white people.

Romanian and central Asia women are very purtty.

Speaking as a Lao girl, in general, we have body issues because our bodies, face, and skin tone are the topic of conversation with everyone we know starting from when we were born. The comments are usually not nice and are usually focused on the areas where the speaker thinks we're lacking. So if everyone you know is constantly telling you that you're too dark or warning you from getting too dark and you're raised in a culture that promotes filial obedience then that could explain it. They may truly think they are dark.  I used to think I was fat even though I weighed 95lbs and was obsessed with losing weight.

I am 1.73 meters, 65 Kg. Asian.  hahahaha. I am trying to stay fit.

  For average American women 1.73 meters tall 95 kilograms is not fat. That height 110 kilograms seems right.

This is average. Sure there are skinny girls...but also many girls 1.73 meter tall weigh in at 150 Kilograms.

  Lot's of pudgy second/third generation Hmong girls here. Even the Japanese girls here get fat.

  And the chunkiness is spreading worldwide.

Just a product of economic surplus and abundance that's causing a lot of people to be fat. And a lot of Asian girls do have butt just not the huge hip hop kinds.
