"Boun" means a ceremony in English where people give donations to Buddhist monks, and have a fun day out.

There's nothing better than Boun That Luang, and it's events like this that makes you proud to be Lao.

The drone is used by a television station.

It's great with technology these days, people can see Boun That Luang from another perspective.

Is that bags of money carried by the monks? If so, they should have used opaque bags instead to hide those cash from thugs that might want to grab and run away with it.

There's not just money in there. There's also confectionery and other things the public has donated to the monks.

Buddhist festivals and ceremonies in Laos is not a place to hide donations.

If people want to steal at Boun That Luang, they will be caught because there are police and even the army in every corner keeping a watchful eye on things.

Thai temples have more money incentives than Lao temples do

I notice that the Thais donate a lot to their temple. Where
Lao temple get a lot of their cash during like new year festival.Its my opinion ok guys gonna beat me up over it.

Buddhist ceremonies regularly takes place in Laos, whether it's at the temple, or monks are invited to a home for the ceremony, so they get their donations in many ways.

Temples wouldn't exist without the support of the public, but yes the Lao New Year is one of the best times of the year for temples to receive a lot of cash.

Sometimes they help with donations if they are involved in the ceremony.

I am not familiar with Lao temple and ceremony and such. If the public provide them daily food offering, what do they use the money for? To pay for electricity, water and maintenance supplies are my guesses.

Yes, although utility bills in Laos isn't expensive.

Lao temples also use the money to renovate the temple and buy new robes to wear and things that are needed.

Some of the monks also go to school and the money goes towards their education.

People become Buddhist monks for different reasons. Maybe their family is poor, maybe they want to live a simple and stress-free life, or maybe they are very dedicated to Buddhism and they want to go to heaven.

There is really no requirement, you can become a monk temporarily or permanently, but whether you're new to the system or you have been a monk for many years, you must follow the rules of being a Buddhist monk.

There's a lot of rules but the common rule for Buddhist monks is obviously no relationship with a female, you can't have sex with them, and you can't touch them.

The other rule is strictly no eating after 12pm, only fluids allowed.

Another very important rule that comes to mind is "Khao Phansa", the beginning of Buddhist Lent, where monks must always return to their temples and can't spend the night anywhere else, and "Ok Phansa" is the end of the Buddhist Lent period.

Here in my hometown, they learn, they cook, they clean roads, they play football. I used to play with them, we are just human beings.

Buddhist monks can certainly cook, and they can eat animals but they can't kill animals to cook.

What I mean by this is that they can't go out and kill a chicken and cook it, but they can take out a dead chicken from of the fridge and cook it.

Yes, it's a sin for Buddhist Monks to touch a woman.

Sometimes there are exceptions when a woman needs to go close to a monk for them to tie a cotton string around their wrist. The monk may slightly touch a women's wrist while tying the string, which is fine as long as they don't intentionally touch their wrist.
