Title: Clarification regarding coffee.
Post by DavidOwlfeather on 3rd Aug, 2013 at 9:17am
Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if someone can explain to me the difference between a Lao coffee and a Vietnamese coffee. Or is it more or less the same thing? Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,

David Owlfeather

I don't drink coffee but from what I heard Lao coffee is much better.

We export a large quantity of it, and other countries are enjoying our coffee.

I never tried Lao Coffee, but I had a Khmer one it was way better than the one I had in the U.S.(Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks and off the counters coffees).

Coffe quality depends on the variety, harvesting method, fermentation method, dry one or wet one, coffe been picked, sorting method, fertilizer applied, only Arabica can be flavored directly, others as blending ingredients.

All on one's preference.

Thanks for the reply, I just meant to ask if they use the small filter like in Vietnam and drip the coffee onto condensed milk.

Best regards,

That's what most Laotians tend to do with their coffee, but I'm a health fanatic and I don't follow them.

The sweetened condensed milk is used in place of milk and sugar. There's nothing healthy about it, it's bad for your teeth and you can develop diabetes.

Avoid Vietnamese style coffee at all costs. It will stain your teeth and cramp your stomach. Only drink Lao coffee.

I bought it in Vietnam, very very harsh. Instant one. They put at least too much C.Robusta as blending ingredient.
