In Communist country you can do whatever as long as you don't challenge their rule or speak out about politics. Xipsongpanna is autonomy region self rule and govern. Maybe that's why they're doing well. :)

Religion is allowed here. But, be peaceful one is fine.

In xi Shaun banana area, people speak Chinese, the mandarin. If Dai meet Dai they speak Dai, or Tai Lue modified. Among Dai teenagers, they speak Dai, that language lasts. When I was young I learned dirty words from my Dai classmates.

Dehong Dai is the same.

Speaking Dai was a must before around 1990 to buy foods which were mostly generated by Dai people.

The site maybe will be energetic Monday. Maybe the site is gone.

School only teaches mandarin. Dai learn their letters at temple.  You can stay in Xi Shuan banna. Dai culture I don't know. I am not in it. But, it is prospering because Dai people now have money by natural rubber.

Schools offering standard curriculum dont not teach Dai language. I am sure. I dont know other regioins in China. If the teacher is Dai, off class, the teacher might speak Dai with Dai students.

It says that 50% of Tai Lue people can only speak Tai Lue and not Mandarin. Is this true?

just like in that Apple City, 50% American Indian Jones only speak Iroquoian, not USA English ?

Maybe it's referring to older Dai people who can't speak Mandarin.

That site is actually a useful resource and the information is gathered by researchers
