I would concentrate on infrastructures first:
(1) Flooding control systems in major metroplex areas (Vientaine, Savankhett and Luong Pabong etc...), (2) Build better quality primary, secondary roads and National Route 13. (3) Enhance water quality and sewage system. |

Of course the environment is highly important to consider when 'developing'. However the major metropolis areas (Vientaine, Luang Pabang, Savanaket) do not cover much of land coverage relative to the land area of Laos. There are still land areas outside of these metropolis areas that can be virgins still and can transform into wildlife sanctuaries.

I do not there is enough land area to commercially grow rice in Laos. Too much rugged topography there and I would assume you need relatively flat land to do so. I ain't no expert on growing rice but I guess I am dumbfounded to think so.

Title: Re: Let party and show some support. Post by peterpan on 4th Jun, 2013 at 10:52am
There is kind of what we call red moutain rice, highland rice, it fetches big money here. Coffee can also be good, macedamia, sugar also good. Some chinese put some medicine oriented crops in Laos like Noni. very profitable. If look at chinese market, traditonal chinese medicine crops planting can be very very profitable if Laos have reasonabel know how. ;D

From my history books, China had been wery weak from 1840 to 1950. I can not see why China ticked them away? I think they were drawn away by their weird idea of being their people's king. That is why Cam, Laso, still have kings living outside of their own kingdom. ;D |
