We have added a Facebook style "Like" feature to our forum.

If you like a specific topic, you can simply click the button located on top of every topic. This feature is for members only.

Have you considered a reputation rating for the users of this forum? I have seen it implemented on only a few forums, and with great results each time. Basically, contributing members are allotted a few reputation points daily that can be assigned to other members posts. Reputation points are accumulated and displayed in a member's profile page. The best result of reputation rating I have seen is that members post less fluff/clutter and inversely post more helpful, insightful posts.

We have a Like feature which is similar to a reputation rating system, and it's not used frequently so other rating systems would not be a feasible option.

Also there's an Awards system, where I can issue awards to members if I enjoy reading their posts and for various other reasons. Members on our forum are generally helpful and friendly towards each other.
