Computer graphics are kool, only in cyberspace. In the real world, I would have to be drinking a few rounds of beerlao to be able to believe that.

High speed Train, MegaMall, now this? Is this the new trend for the Hi So people or something, cause I don't get it.

Wow very nice. It's under construction. If you build it they'll come. Money talk and the project is fund by China $600 million ;) :)

New Vientiane city will bring more tourist to Laos. Some rich tourist want to shop and luxury hotel. I hope they build couple of casino there too. Something is better then nothing. I'm with LPDR on this one 100%. More hydropower and more new development. "Long live Lan Xang."

They didn't start building this, just like they didn't start building the Mega mall or the highspeed train.
These are all just scams to steal people's money and put it into the corrupt gov'ts pockets. They pretend they are going to do "something" when really it's an excuse to "hide" the money they get from aid and foreign investment. I think you will need more than $600 million US to build a city like that and do you think China is just going to give that money to you?

Do you really think Laos needs mercedes benz for each and every "high ranking official". Maybe they can fool the ignorant people in Laos but they can't fool anyone else who is allowed to think for themselves.

The first of the planned three phases will be completed this November, in time to host the ASEM Summit.

Construction of the second phase began in the middle of 2012.

After the summit, the money will all dry up and the project will wither away. Its all about face. Just like the stock exchange. Waste of money.
