Hi guys,

Im coming to Laos for the 2nd time with my wife this time for Songkran festival, bringing my wife back to her village for the celebration.

I am wondering whether it is hard to rent a van as our transport as it is the Songkran festival on that day which is 14th of April.

I missed Laos. :)

Renting a vehicle there is way too hard and expensive, $300 per day and sign your life away too. Better to just take a taxi or tuk tuk or even buy your own motorcycle for $600. How about a Cherry? I actually prefer the Scoopyi's. Saw them popping wheelies with these, haha.
I actually was driving and went through an intersection and ended up going the wrong way on a one way street. Cop pulled me over on his bike and I didn't even know he was a cop until he asked for my drivers licence. I showed him 50,000 kips and busted a uwee. I like the law there, just got to learn how to bargain.

hey guys, sorry for the late reply.

If anyone been here since last year probably know, I went to Laos for my marriage. Rented a van for $120 dollar last year to drive me, my wife and father in law from vientiane to bolikhan district n further down, was a rip off because I managed to rent a van this year at $120 but during songkran.

$300/day X 2months = $18,000

when i said renting a van, I meant I rented a van with a driver in it to drive me to the destination I desire and that's it. :)
