Title: sabaidee
Post by Kevin on 15th Nov, 2011 at 9:24am
hello everyone, just want to introduce myself, i am Kevin a 50 year young Englishman currently residing in Chiang Mai Thailand.
I consider myself to be an ambassador for Lao as i lived there for a year and fell head over heels in love with its friendly People and country. You could say my heart is still in Lao and one day soon im coming back to reclaim it.
Because of the Lao media i dont get much feedback on whats going on there, apart from my Lao friends telling me.
I am exporting northern Thai goods around the world from my base here in Thailand and i am looking at an opportunity to export some Lao goods and really i am seeking advice on what to look into? any help will be very gratefully received and some drinks may well be bought when i visit soon !
So thanks again and to any westerners in Lao, "you lucky lucky people"
Kevin "Love Lao Forever" !

Welcome to the forum Kevin, and that's a nice picture of you with the Lao highland ladies.

Like those from Southeast Thailand, Chiang Maiians resemble people in Laos by the foods they eat and their way of life, so we feel warmly and deeply about them. And if your heart is with Lao then you're lucky to be living in this region.

I hope your export business brings you a lot of success.

Thank you so much, and may i say how correct you are about this part of Thailand, i feel like i am in Lao sometimes when im outside of Chiang Mai. The people here are friendly and warm, not to affected by farangs, yet !
I only came up here for a short contract of work but next month will be a year here, that's how much i like it here, but i really do miss my 'Lao" and plan to visit next year.
I lived right up north in Phongsaly Province and only saw a handful of farangs in my stay there, so that was a huge bonus.
Cheers Kevin
