I'll be traveling to Laos (Vientiane and Pakse areas) in a few day and I'm wondering where I can find a place to get a sak yant tattoo. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Everywhere!

If you want the 'spells' that are believed to accompany these tattoos, then go to a rural temple. Don't forget to donate food to the monks. Take your shoes off too! ;D

How did you getting it 'free' come about?

Yeah, how was it free? Also was it done at a temple? It looks like it was done at a professional tattoo studio, not a temple because the lines are solid rather than dotted (I think it looks better the way yours is done).

After speaking with countless people, no one knew where I could get a tattoo. They all recommended that I go to Thailand instead. Finally someone knew a friend who knew someone that does these types of tattoos. Once he found out that I was searching for this type of tattoo he decided not to charge me. I think he was pleased that someone from out of the country was interested in his tattoo work. Lastly, when I return in December I'll have him add several more to my collection.

I'd be really interested to know who/where then. I plan on going to Laos again (not sure when though, gotta hit up Cambodia first).

I have considered going to temples in Thailand, but I don't like the way most of the tattoos look, they come out looking like they were printed on an old dot matrix printer.

Hey that is nice sak yant. I got almost the same one on my left chest, except mind is lion and the Ai Janht put the spell in it while he doing my tattoo. At the same time I have to turn toward north and ate 1 red egg and 1 black egg. By far I have got away with countless dirts I have done during my gangbanging era. Thanks Ai Janht for that cuz when I think back I should have die many times or get lock up 25 to life in prison. "I'm not trying to sound bad ass in here der." That just my past and now I'm a growing up mature good Lao gentelman trying to open a biz.

Sorry for the late reply.

I recently returned from Thailand where I got a few more tattoos. If you are interested in getting yantra tattoos I recommend visiting Wat Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom Province. Wat Bang Phra is known as the Mecca for yantra tattoos. People from all over Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia flock there to receive them from the various monks and ruesi priests.

There's one book currently available about yantra tattoos titled "Sacred Skin; Thailand's Spirit Tattoos", and another titled "Scared Tattoos of Thailand" that will be soon available on Amazon.

Lastly, here's a picture of my new yantra tattoos.

Iam tattooist from croatia and iam going to laos the end of month...just saw your post and I like your sak yant..I have some done in wat bang phra and in cambodia and would like to get one in laos...if you dont mind telling me where did you get yours will save me some time looking for it...thank you in advance..greetings from croatia
