What does this mean:

'On August 23, 1975, a contingent of 50 Pathet Lao women, symbolically "liberated" the city'.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about Lao history because it was never my strong field of study.

Let's just hope they didn't do anything devious as that Thao Suranari. She was a fabrication, just like these 'heroes', right?
