Wow that is still really hard to read. I don't think I can help you. Maybe the Admin can since she's a native speaker.

Based on my shity reading skills it looks like "mii laak (chaak?) aeesomething nalu ka"

JSEA, You're close.

canadian2011, Welcome to our forum. You mean "Lao" writing.

It says "Nee jaak Ameriga", meaning "Leave America".

Is that your arm?

You're welcome. I guess he wants everyone to know that he left the U.S.

I see it now, the spacing threw me off. I kept wondering why sala eh came after sala ah when it always goes in front of the consonant.

Is that a prison tattoo or something? Looks like it wasn't done by a professional, and maybe not even with a tattoo gun.

LaoguySoCal, Maybe you're right, it was hard to read with his scribble word over what appears to be a blue tattoo.

Initially I thought it was "Mee" but I couldn't figure out what he was trying to say, so "Nee" sounded more obvious.

I guess he means "Mee jaak Ameriga" meaning "Bear from America".

Why would anybody get "Bear from America" tattoo on their arm?
:o :-?

That's what I'm thinking. It didn't make any sense to me, so I thought it meant "Leave America". Even that sounds weird too.

He is either weird, or he has problems with his Lao.

I think it has other meaning.

The arm does not belong to a Lao person just by looking at the amount of hair on his arm.  If that is the case, why does he tatooed his arm in Lao letters?

He probably likes Laos, or one of his Lao friends did it for him.

It's strange to have a tattoo in Lao writing over a spiral tattoo. Maybe one or both of them aren't even permanent tattoos, and just ink.

A lot of people in the states also have Chinese tattoo writing. Even though they're not Chinese.

I think bear represents "Russian" as for eagle represents "USA", so he is saying that, he is Russian from USA. I think

Watch out for practical tattoo jokers.  They are out there. :) It's best to know the language, understand the the meaning before putting it on your body. I've seen it happen to people where a guy lied about the meaning and decide to go all the way with it. LOL

I don't know if any of you have heard of an incident regarding the surgeons and the guy with "I love women" tattoos on his body.  The guy needed surgery for something I forget, it so happens the surgery was done exactly on the "w.o."letters on his body.  When the surgery was complete and over, guess what his tattoo says?  "I love men".  Yep, the surgeons got sued.

My wife says that it does indeed say Bear from America. She says Leave and Bear are very close words in Lao.

What's wrong with that? As long as you know what it says for sure (so you don't get "I love men" tattooed over your heart). I have been considering getting a tattoo in Thai or Lao. I think both types of writing are very beautiful when they're stylized correctly. Also the sak yant tattoos that people get here sometimes look really nice. I believe those are written in Pali or Sanskrit. I doubt that most Thais can read any Pali, but they still get the tattoos.

If you want a Lao relevant tattoo, then sak yant is the way to go. Make sure it's done by a proper monk! The 'spells' look the 'hottest'. Only devout monks can read Pali.
