Lao government has approved  a policy to offer free health care for children under 5 yrs old. Thank you LPDR. I think Lao children also need free lunch program at school, and better  education system, more school are need. When I was going to school in Laos we only go half day because lack of fund for education, not enough school and teacher.

its a good thing yet at the same time truly sad, so a kid 6 years of age cant get coverage and just lay grasping for air on the streets? so sad, and this is how they treat lao children, if it were hmong children they probably get treated like chicken, pig, cow right?

Something is better then nothing. I think more children will be cover in the future. It'll take time and lot of money. Some province have free lunch program at school and hopefully it will also expand national wide. Education is also important just like America by law all Lao children should require to attend school.

This is one area Laos is far ahead of the US.  The US has very strange policies - everything is for the very rich.  The big corporations - e.g., insurance companies, drug companies, oil companies, etc control everything.  I am fortunate my husband is successful; it is very bad to be poor in the US.  No safety net for anyone.  Med ins for a family here is close to 1000 per month and car ins not much less.  The ins companies really gouge the public here.  Although my husband is comparatively well off his politics are left of center for the most part.  Me too.

There is good and bad everywhere we live. It would be nice if US has universal health care for it citizens.
