Admin, how long you been living in Laos? Did you even attended any Lao School at all? The reason I'm asking this question is... I'm getting the impression that you speaks broken lao..
Let me correct you again... Khon lao say... "Tuk Bard"... NOT!!!! Duck Baht... Duck Baht sounds so much like vietnamese trying to speak lao.. perhaps you're one of those vietnamese migrate to Laos. ;) |

You gotta remember our language is not meant to be written in English letters. Everyone has different ways on pronouncing/writing it. You can't judge her for anything.

JACKSPADE, I agree. For example, some people will spell "huck" or "huk" or "hack" which means "love" in English. Who cares how it is spelt in English, people understand it.
"Tuk" (took-took) is often used in English for the three-wheeled motor vehicle. |

When you're wrong... why don't you just admitted that you're wrong?? The "d" sound and "t" sound are totally different.... i do realized people spell it differently as your example.. huk.. huck.. hak.. but you dont replace "h" with "p" for example.. is.. Tukkkkkkkkkkkkkkk bard.. with the "T" sound NOT "Duckkk" :D |

Buk IIWJ, I'm right but it doesn't matter how it is spelt in English.
"Chao" and "Jao" both mean "You" that's spelt differently also. "d" and "t" is more similar than "c" and "j". You also need to be reminded that northen, southern and central Laotians all speak the Lao language in a different Lao accent. By calling a southern Lao person a Vietnamese just because he or she speaks differently to say a Northern Lao person is very ignorant. |

I agree with the admin there. Anyhow,Buk IIWJ, since you are heading to Laos...make sure all the pictures you take are topnotch (superb quality). :) I know New Year's near, and I want to see real pictures of traditional women, food, and events. Keep me posted man. Also, stay away from the "ga tuir" if they do exist in Laos. :)
