Thais visit Laos and Laotians visit Thailand daily. We're neighbours.

They come over often, mainly on weekends.

Why would they be rude?

If you are rude to them, then they will be rude to you.

Lao Isan and Laos is pi nong gun. A trip from Lao Isan to Vinetiane is less then 2 hrs. Out of 2.1 million tourist visiting Laos every year about 1.3 million are Lao-Thai, Isan.

I was under the impressin that these were 'Siamese'.

As for 'pi-nong' Isaan, they can cross the river whenever and however many times they want, for FREE!
As for the Siamese, they need to pay just like everybody else!
That's as far as I'M concerned! ;D

Some are Siamese, but I think many Thai visitor are pi nong Lao Isan. Many has relative in Laos and go back and forward daily. I think Lao Isan should be allow to visit Laos freely without visa. Lao government should also encourage Isan to get Lao citizens. So Laos will populated by Lao, and a majority.
