I don't think there are any Harley Davidsons in Laos, and yes there are police cars in Laos. Most of the time, they use motorbikes.

Motorcycle is more dangerous. Maybe if police chase criminals or drug dealer with motorcycle they might get run over by car.
8-) :-?

I haven't heard of police get run over by a car yet. Some roads are narrow and in poor condition in Laos, so it's quicker to chase criminals on motorbikes.

I'm pretty sure I saw some 'vi-loon' rapper from Laos ridding on one in Vientiane's CBD in his music video. This guy had a Luang Phabang accent too. Anyway, it just looked 'hot' the way he stood out from the crowd. I want one now.

Do they have anywhere where people can go to learn to ride mopeds?

These motorcycles remind me of the 1980's TV show called 'CHIPS'-(California Highway Patrols)  No Lao 'Eric Estrada' in the picture ;D?

He probably imported it from Thailand.

You can learn to ride motorbikes in the That Luang erea, there's plenty of space.

That's why many Lao drive without proper training and driver license. Some people can't afford $100 for licenes.  8-) :o

Does a Harley Davidson and a moped operate in the same way?
Can I just start off on a moped first, then just jump into a Harley?
Does anybody know?

I don't like to ride motorbikes out in the sun.

If they can afford to buy a motorbike, then they should be able to afford a license.

I don't ride motorbikes, and I don't know anything about them except that they come with gears or automatic.

Can somebody please tell me who owns all those MASSIVE gated mansions all over Vientiane? Who are the 'rich' in our beloved Laos? When did Laos ever need gates? What happened to the open-styled homes? Are we not 'pinong' anymore?

Maybe rich government officials, Chinese, Vietnamese businessmen. They won't let you near if you're poor.
