No, we know this man very well. He sleeps on the streets of Vientiane and he uses the money given to him to play cards.

We were suprised to see him wear a nice and clean pair of shorts and shirt. Maybe someone donated them to him.

I wonder why this thread got over 200 views compared to the others on this board. I wonder if it's the title or just the pictures.

I guess in laos they treat the bums just the same way they do here in the west, we just ignore them.

I made the mistake once while visiting San Diego, California. I gave a transient (aka homeless, aka bum) some spare change. Before I knew what was happening, I was surrounded on all sides by people begging money. Very sad, yet very unnerving.

I do feel for them, but sometimes it isn't very easy to help them directly. I suggest (in America that is) donating to an organization which will in turn help the person who is down-on-their-luck.

Are there any LAO 'khon-khor-taan' or not?
I'm pretty sure Lao have more pride than this 'Gaauw'. Am I wrong 'nang'?

I don't speak Vietnamese. I'm sure you can tell if someone is a Chinese or a Vietnamese by the way they talk.

Yes, there are also Lao beggars.

Many Lao speak Viet. About 5,000 Lao student a year study in Vietnam University. They try to make them pro-Viet.
