Vietnamese people in Laos like this woman sell cardboard and plastic bottles for a living.
Unlike most Lao people, the Vietnamese don't feel embarrassed when riding bicycles with loads of junk on the streets of Vientiane. |

haha , why embarrassed ? It's ok to earn money by themselve ^^
I respect anyone who can risk their time or their money or both of them to improve the quality of their life ^^ ;) |

Damn! Look at all that graffiti! It looks like a low socio-economic Western suburb.
How rife is graffiti in Laos? |

The average population of Laos is 20 year old. Laos has the youngest population in Asia. They're pretty westernized.

Vietnamese are free to roaming in Laos. I believed they(keow) are more than us(Lao). Last time I been there, I have a hard times to find our ppl doing the business in the town. Most of those are doing business in Laos are Chinese and Vietnamese(Keow). You couldn't tell who are their. Most of them were born there after 1975 and the new comers.
That why the 3 heads Elephant are representing for new Laos. LAOS = LAO + KEOW + JEX = 6.5 mil |

That's too much many. Most of the Viets in Laos that I know of speak Lao and act Lao too. As long as they don't try to overtake the country and assimilate, it should be fine. |
Title: Re: Vietnamese in Laos Post by Lao Pride Administrator on 30th May, 2011 at 11:55pm
That's because they were born in Laos, or they've lived in Laos for a long time.
It's similar to Laotians living in the USA being Americanised, and they have no thought of overtaking the country. |

Title: Re: Vietnamese in Laos Post by Lao Lan Xang on 31st May, 2011 at 4:23am
Yes its ethnics Lao population is only about 3.8 million. I bet more are coming in every year as Laos economies grow. Its like Mexican illegal immigrant in the U.S. Some Viet are assimilated into Laos culture which is good.

Chinese are everywhere in the world. Not just Laos. They're all about economic interest, and needed Laos natural resource to feed their giant economy. One thing about Chinese most don't assimilated in other culture.

I hate to be the one to say it, but I doubt Khon Lao will have the heart to stage a riot if worse comes to worse.

Title: Re: Vietnamese in Laos Post by Lao Lan Xang on 31st May, 2011 at 9:36pm
That's how they keep our people down. Lao has no say, no freedom of speech or hold peaceful protest. Just like when the French give Laos territory, Isan to Thailand in 1906. Lao people has no say. Agreed or disagreed.
